Week 5: Floop Interactive Assignments

I recently stumbled across Floop looking for a way to have my Virtual students and my Face to Face students interact. This program's beauty is that when students turn in an assignment, you can leave feedback right on the assignment in specific areas. Students can upload PDFs, Google Docs, Word Docs, and JPGs. So, for art, I have students upload JPGs of their artwork. I can click an area and critique it. Then the student sees the response and can answer my question.

Another great feature is the Peer Review. Once students have turned in the assignment, you can set up a question you want students to answer on each other's work. Below is an example of one I did with my students. It even tells you if the students did not quite meet the question requirements. The green dots mean they answered the question, yellow means it is close, and red means they missed the mark.

My students have loved how this has brought both the virtual and face to face students together. They also love that I can give them feedback directly on their sketches virtually. My understanding is you can even answer with math equations too! It seems like the possibilities are endless with all subjects with this application!

The site is https://www.floopedu.com/. Unfortunately, it does not link with other applications, so it is just another step if you are will to take the time to do it. I do like the emoji feature for grades to be more of a fun activity, and then the real grade goes into your actual grade book software. The only application it links with is Schoology for bulk student enrolment of students to your classes into Floop, which helps if you use Schoology. If not, you can have students enroll using a code. On the day I first tried Floop, Schoology was not linking, so I did the code feature, and it did not take long for students to enroll.

What are some ways you can see yourself as an educator incorporating this tool in your classroom?

  1. I have never heard of Floop, but I am so interested in implementing this into my instruction! The collaborative aspects are especially appealing to me, since you can have student peer review or comment and leave feedback on students assignments. I could use this tool to bring my distance learners and in-person learners together.

    1. Hi Kayla,
It has really brought my virtual and face to face students together. Plus, my students love the feedback I can leave directly on their work and they can respond to it , almost like a text message.

  2. I have never heard of this before, but it looks like a great way to add some fun and variety to assignments. Also love the peer feedback and collaborative opportunities this could give!

  3. Wow, I'm with Kayla and have also not heard of Floop! My district is planning on trying to go back in the building on a hybrid model. This would be perfect when having students collaborate without a ton of different Goolge Meets going on! Not to mention, sometimes kids miss live lessons and it can be difficult to work on projects at the same time. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I will definitely look into Floop. We will also have students in person and online when JCPS returns, so giving both students a sense of belonging will be inportant and this seems like a way to do that.
